The Timmelsjoch Pass (Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstraße, Passo del Rambo) is located on the Austrian-Italy border and is the connecting point between the Ötztal valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol to the Passeier Valley in the Italian province of South Tyrol. This high mountain pass is positioned at an impressive altitude of 2,474 m (8,117 ft.) above sea level and known as the “secret passage” due to its infrequent use compared more accessible Brenner Pass. This pass is revered by car and motorcycle tourists and those traveling this pass can expect a series of serpentines and a steep and narrow road with exquisite scenic views of the Ötztal Alps and the “Passeiertal” in South Tyrol. This pass is available for travel from the early June to mid-October (depending on the weather conditions) from 7 am to 8pm and is not accessible to vehicles with trailers. There is also a toll-free on the Austrian side.
